SHIELD WALLET — CHROME EXTENSION QUICK START
Version 0.1.2 | Desktop Chrome 120 or newer

Shield has been submitted to the Chrome Web Store and is awaiting review.
Until the store version is available, this is a manual installation. It needs
Chrome's Developer mode, but no coding tools, terminal or developer account.

INSTALL IN FOUR STEPS
1. Download the ZIP above and extract it into a permanent folder, such as
   Documents/Shield Wallet. On Windows choose Extract All; on macOS double-click
   the ZIP. Keep the extracted folder after installing.
2. Open Chrome. Copy chrome://extensions into the address bar and press Enter.
   Turn on Developer mode at the top right.
3. Click Load unpacked. Select the extracted Shield Wallet folder containing
   manifest.json. Select the FOLDER, not a file inside it. You do not need to
   open any JavaScript, HTML or source files, and there is no .exe installer.
4. Open Chrome's puzzle-piece Extensions menu and pin Shield Wallet. Click the
   Shield icon to open it. Read the data-use notice, then create an account or
   restore your own Shield phrase or encrypted backup.

IF CHROME CANNOT FIND THE EXTENSION
Make sure the ZIP was extracted. If the selected folder contains another
folder, open that inner folder until manifest.json is directly inside it, then
select that folder. Do not select the ZIP or the separate source-code ZIP.
An employer or school may block manual extensions; do not bypass its policies.
This package does not install into mobile Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT AND INSTALLATION
Keep the extracted folder in place and Developer mode enabled. Save the recovery
phrase offline and export an encrypted backup before updating or switching to
the store version. Never share your phrase, password or backup with support.
Finish pending transactions in the original wallet before moving installations.
The store version uses separate browser storage: restore your account there and
confirm both addresses before removing your original installation.

Manual installations do not update automatically. For version 0.1.1 or later,
close the wallet, replace files in the SAME extracted folder with a new release,
then click Reload on Shield Wallet's card in chrome://extensions. Do not remove
the extension to update it, because removal can delete its saved wallet data.
Version 0.1.0 previews use a different ID: export there first, then restore into
this release and verify recovery while retaining the original.

BNB SMART CHAIN ONLY
Use the public 0x address for BNB network fees and ordinary BEP-20 transfers.
Use the shd1 address to receive private Shield transfers. Public transactions
and gas payments are visible onchain. Shield does not guarantee anonymity.

A matching checksum checks file consistency; it is not a security certificate.
Shield has internal tests and reviews, not an independent third-party audit or
antivirus certification. Chrome Web Store approval is still pending.
